Portfolio Filter Background and text colors

    I can’t seem to change the portfolio filter background and text colors on the small images that appear on the page.That links to an actually portfolio page.
    It is always defaults to a dark gray background and white text. When I chick on the colors I want it to be under the filter behavior. It seems not to work.
    Any suggestions?
