5/6 + 1/6 column shortcode problem

Hi IshYoBoy

I’ve found a little problem with the rendering of images in tablets using the 5/6 + 1/6 shortcode in the VC. Check this page to see what I mean:

The images in the 1/6 segment are not allowing the divider line underneath to be 100% of the page and when you view on an ipad they fall below the divider although not specified in that order in the VC

Can you take a look?

Hi Kat,

The reason of this behaviour is the fact that the dividers are entered in the 5/6 column instead of a new row with only 1 column. To fix it, keep the text only in a 5/6 column, the image in 1/6 column and then create another row below this one for the separator.

Hey guys

I figured out the problem here – when placing images in a 1/6 + 5/6 code in the 5/6 section if the images are centrally aligned then the mobile view places the images below the seperator below in the VC. I fixed it by left aligning the images and then the images were placed correctly.

But there’s something not right with central alignment in 5/6…?

My pages are all ok now.

Thanks, this is all good now, I’m new to VC so thanks for the help, you have integrated it really well into boldial. This is my favorite theme by far :)

Just a quick question, can the boldial shortcodes be used in the widget areas – for example I’d love to have the depth and color of the menus in the blog sidebar and footer.

If yes where can I get the shortcode list from as it’s all in VC and is difficult to pick out when I switch the shortcodes page back to the WP native editor?

Hey Kat,

We just tested the center aligning and all seems to work just fine. Maybe the structure and the exact place where the separators were placed caused the issue.

Yes you can use them in widgets as well. Just create a new page, enter the content you need. E.g. Menu and set all its colors etc.. Once happy with the result, switch to WordPress Editor, navigate to the TEXT tab (not the visual one which is selected by default) copy the code and paste it into a text widget.

P.S. Please do not copy [vc_row …] and [vc_column] as they might mess your widget’s layout.

So if you have this code:
[vc_row][vc_column width="1/1"][ish_menu menu="38" depth="0" color="color5" text_color="color4" active_bg_color="color8" active_text_color="color4" tooltip_color="color1" tooltip_text_color="color3"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Then you should remove the opening and closing tags for rows and columns. so teh code would then be:

[ish_menu menu="38" depth="0" color="color5" text_color="color4" active_bg_color="color8" active_text_color="color4" tooltip_color="color1" tooltip_text_color="color3"]

Feel free to experiment with it :)

Brilliant guys, I did what you said and managed to set up a template for the Navigation shortcodes in VC, which made it easier to grab the code and place it in the widget area and footer, worked a treat and looks great!
