Allowed Tags in Comments

Many of my comments include span and pre tags. Boldial appears to have stripped all of these span and pre tags from the comments. I suspect it has something to do with the $allowedposttags and $allowedtags global variables.

I have a backup of the WP tables so that’s not a concern, but I’d like to know how to stop Boldial stripping these tags in the first place.

Can’t say it was Boldial that caused this – other themes may have already included this functionality – but adding this code to the Boldial child theme’s functions.php did the trick.

function allowed_comment_tags($data) {
	global $allowedtags;
	$allowedtags['pre'] = array('class' => true);
	$allowedtags['span'] = array('class' => true);
	return $data;
}

add_action('init', 'allowed_comment_tags');

function allowed_comment_tags($data) {

global $allowedtags;

$allowedtags['pre'] = array('class' => true);

$allowedtags['span'] = array('class' => true);

return $data;

}

add_action('init', 'allowed_comment_tags');

Thank you very much for posting the solution as well! The theme does absolutely no manipulation with the allowedtags variable. So it must have been something else causing the problem.
