Author & Editor roles – Problems to writing articles

Hello guys, I have a problem.
If I create an author or publisher account is not possible to write the articles.
I go to the articles section – new article and I get a blank screen with just the title bar without the ability to write / edit / manage anything.
I have often used other themes with different roles of authors and publishers and I can not understand the reason for the non-functioning.

Hi slimcrazy87,

I made accounts with different roles and looks good from here. Editor can create/edit/publish, Author can create new, cannot edit articles, those wasnt created by him, etc.
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing some issues with these standard WP settings. Does it work like its described here? https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities

Let us know please and also let us know, if you are using some plugin for role management, etc.

Hi IshYoBoy, Yes it’s really strange that doesn’t work.
If you give me an email I send you some screenshot and the list of the plugin.
I have a doubt: Could be a problem caused by the childtheme? Because I am using it.

Also please try to switch to some standard WP theme that came with bundle. And turn of all the plugin and check if the problem persists.

Hey there,

This is very strange. There seems to be something wrong with your WordPress installation.
Try deactivating all plugins and log in as author to see if the author can create new articles. If not, then I am afraid you will have to re-install your WordPress as this is not theme related problem. Maybe it is a bug in the localized WP installation. Maybe try the default English version.

We were able to create new articles without a problem using WP 3.9 and Latest minicorp on a test install.

The only problem is that our shortcodes buttons are not added to the TinyMCE Plugin.

To fix this you can add the following function to your child theme’s functions.php:

function ishyoboy_register_tinymce_buttons() {
	if ( current_user_can('edit_posts') || current_user_can('edit_pages') )
	{
		add_filter('mce_external_plugins', 'ishyoboy_add_plugin');
		add_filter('mce_buttons', 'ishyoboy_register_buttons');
	}
}

function ishyoboy_register_tinymce_buttons() {

if ( current_user_can('edit_posts') || current_user_can('edit_pages') )

{

add_filter('mce_external_plugins', 'ishyoboy_add_plugin');

add_filter('mce_buttons', 'ishyoboy_register_buttons');

}

Now both Authors and Editors should have the shortcodes available too.

Hope you will be able to quickly solve the problem.

Hi,

Please post your solution in here as well, so future readers facing the same issue can see what the problem was in your case.

We have edited your child-theme and added the above code to it. Please check it. The problem should now be solved completely. You have maybe added the code after the final php closing tag which generated a php error.

Our access is no more needed if everything works as it should.

Thank you guys,
the problem was a conflict between two plugs in: “wp content copy protection & no right click” and “Posts types orders”.
Now I disabled both and seems to work.

I have rated 5 stars few months ago: really a nice theme! ;)
