I have no idea where did you uploaded image – in media library, as feature image, directly into post?
And which box you mean? Post holder, navigation holder? I didn’t get much info from title either.
Please provide some preview link to us if you can and be more specific.

Sorry for the confusion. I am referring to the short code boxes that can be placed in a page with the different color fills. I was wondering if I could use a picture that acts as the fill.

now I know what you mean.
Yes, you can do it in Boldial and its really simple. In page builder, find the row you wish to apply bg image to it.
Click the edit button and scroll down in options. There are background options like color, opacity, image, etc.

Nalleto doesnt have this feature built-in. But you can add background image to any box via inline style directly on shortcode:
[box color="" icon="" align="left" style="background-image: url('myimage.jpg');"] box with image[/box]
