i can’t see the page templates dropdown on the page editing screen
i tried activating the default wordpress theme and then returning to boldial but with no success

could you please let us know if the page templates drop-down is visible when you activate default wp theme?

The first what we would check is in the page editing click to “Screen Options” in the top right corner and make sure that “Page Attributes” is checked.

The option shows only when there is at least one template available. By default, Boldial has none as the pages us page builder and each can be different.

Have you created a new page template and added it to the child theme? If so, please make sure that all necessary parts are in it. If it is done correctly it will surely show up in the list of Templates and the option will be available.
