The Portfolio is a special custom post type. Which is created by the plugin ‘IshYoBoy Multicorp Assets’. If you switch the theme and leave the plugin, the portfolio items will remain, but you will have to style them and create front-end to display them. The functionality of the portfolio is tightly connected to the theme and its theme options. This is the difference between WordPress.com and the self hosted solution. In WordPress.com you can install only “skins”. Our theme and mainly plugin expands the WordPress functionality.

In any case having the plugin activated during the switching period will enable the back-end so you can comfortably move the content from “our portfolio” to different one. Also note all the content elements are also custom and will not be styled in different themes.

If you wish you can use a standard portfolio plugin (instead of the portfolio from the theme) which does not come with any theme if you plan on switching to different theme and don’t want to do any extra work.
