I have created a front page for my blog posts, here I have added a “recent blog posts” item and selected to show only the latest 9 posts. However, I would like to add a link/button to the bottom with “Older posts” that would then show the next 9 posts, etc. . I tried creating this with a button but I do not know how to set it to dynamically show the next 9 posts (and it would also work when I add new posts)

The “Recent Blog Posts” item is meant to show the latest posts on homepage or other subpages etc.. but not to be the “Blog” itself.

To have a page “be” the blog, please go to “Settings -> Reading” and choose which page will be used for blog. This will already have the functionality you are looking for, but with the classic blog design.

Too bad that the blog excerpts page doesn’t look like your nice “recent posts” element with multiple columns :)

You can use some custom css to change how the Blog looks :) By shrinking the width of every post, floating them left and so on you can make it look as the Recent posts element.

Also you can use a child-theme to modify the HTML which is output if needed.
