There’s another question.

My mainpage is the blog of the website (full width 3 columns grid / every categories).
I’m looking to have 5 menus, with each displaying a blog of a single category (simple layout, one column on left, sidebar on right), with pagination.

Here is my question : how can I create these one category blog ? I’m trying to add the “Recent blog posts” shortcode in visual composer, but I can’t get the full loop of articles (only like “display 4 posts”).

Hope I made myself clear…
Thanks !

I guess you need to go through the settings of this shortcode and set how many posts to display. If you set -1 it will display all that fit your settings.

you right, unfortunately you can’t use pagination with this “Recent Blog Posts” shortcode.
Pagination you can use only for blog overview page.

Would totally understand if you cannot help.

Now we see what you are trying to achieve.

1. Your home page will be a regular Blog Overview list of items having Masonry layout with 3 columns

2. Your Blog Category pages (dynamic, not regular pages) however should have a “classic” layout and only one post and a sidebar.

The problem is that both use the same settings from “Theme Options -> Blog Options” meaning they cannot have different look.

There are two solutions.

1. The Main page will be a custom page

– Set the “Theme Options” to display “Classic” blog layout and turn the sidebar on. This will be the setting for all dynamic pages.

– Your main page, however, will be a regular page where you can use the “Recent Blog Posts” shortcode to display items.

This will however look a little different from what you expect

2. Both the Main Page and Category pages will be dynamic

This solution involves changes in the PHP templates.

– Set the “Theme Options” to display “Classic” blog layout and turn the sidebar on. This will be the setting for all dynamic pages.

– We now need to update the “home.php” file for the blog overview page and hardcode the settings to be Masonry and 3 columns and no sidebar. To manage this do not edit it directly but use the starter child theme we provide. Copy the “home.php” file from the parent theme root into the root of the child theme. Now edit it in a text editor and add this code:

Add the code just before the line:

$blog_style = ( isset( $ish_options ) && isset( $ish_options['blog_overview_style'] ) ) ? $ish_options['blog_overview_style'] : 'classic';

This will override the settings and manually set the needed layout.

Now just upload and activate the child theme and yo add the 5 “Categories” to the menu make sure to use “Categories” and not manual pages. If they are not visible in the options when editing menu, click the “Screen Options” in the right top corner and choose what types of content can be used inside the Menu.

Cheers
