I want to edit this – I don’t want to show the icon, or number of likes & comments to be shown on this page. Also, I’m using masonry and there is no “read more” button on the bottom of the excerpt. I’d like that to appear.

This will require overriding some templates & probably theme functions via child theme. You will need to know a little about how WordPress functions, PHP, HTML, CSS.

You need to check the files in the root folder of the theme and so all:

wp-content\themes\boldial\content-post-audio.php
wp-content\themes\boldial\content-post-image.php
wp-content\themes\boldial\content-post-link.php
wp-content\themes\boldial\content-post-quot.php
wp-content\themes\boldial\content-post-standard.php
wp-content\themes\boldial\content-post-video.php

Copy them to the root folder of your child-theme (We have provided a starter one along with the theme), if you haven’t worked with child themes yet we strongly recommend reading this article https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

If you say you are using masonry then you can focus only on the code under the “// MASONRY” comment. There you can remove the icon, add the “read more” button after the excerpt, change the length of your excerpt, etc..

To hide buttons and likes you will need to redefine the “ishyoboy_get_masonry_post_details” function as we have suggested in this topic https://support.ishyoboy.com/forums/topic/unable-to-view-the-author-name-for-the-blog-posts/#post-3055 and then update it to your needs not as we have suggested in the previous post.

Please do not group several questions into one topic to keep the forum well organized so users can easily find the answer they are looking for.

The picture animation is done via CSS so you can update it by redefining the “hover” via CSS.

Do you have a caching plugin in place? Make sure to disable it at least temporarily.

Each file corresponds to a post “format” so if you are editing the “content-post-quot.php” file it will only show the change on a post that is marked to be a “Quot” format.

Are you changing them via child theme or directly in the parent theme?

Have you uploaded the files in the correct place once they were changed?

What happens if you leave the file empty? Is there a change?

Do you have the child theme activated?

Have you done the change to the correct “section” of the file? As each file contains 3 section – Classic, Full-width, Masonry and each section is loaded depending on what Blog Style is selected in Theme Options. So if you are changing Full-width and your Blog is Masonry then you will see no change.

Trying to answer these questions to yourself should bring you to the root of the problem. Please let us know how you proceeded.
