I’m customizing my footer but it seems that I can’t have as many widgets as I would like to.

I have one footer taking 1/2
Then, I’d like to have four different widgets in the last two 1/4 columns but one column can actually contain one and only widget….

How can I make widget to float one below the other?

Thank you, Regards
Matt

Unfortunately to manage this you will have to use custom CSS. You cannot have one half and one half and in the second half 4 x one fourths. This is because the math is based on 12 columns in a row and only whole numbers for columns. 12 / 2 = 6 and this is ok. But 6 / 4 = 1.5 which is not an integer.

Also since the design is fluid users on laptops would have these columns very narrow as their screens would be around 1024px wide not like now.

So either stick to the grid or override the widget grid widths.

Cheers

I will try to stick to the grid for now.

Thank you for these details.

I need to have 4 columns. The site that I am trying to fix is newsite.fvdowntown.com. The info (sidebar) is only used here in the footer. I can’t figure out how to adjust the columns to be 1/4 each.

Just navigate to “Appearance -> Widgets”, open the Footer sidebar and edit each widget and ensure that the “Widget width” value is set to “One fourth” as per the image below:

boldial_widgets_width

Currently you third widget seems to have “One Third” width instead of “One Fourth”.

Cheers
