I put this size when creating the field, but it appears with the maximum width of the form.

This is controlled via CSS. The fields have 100% width so you can simply override it with “auto” value via little CSS. For example, add the code below to the “Custom CSS” field available under “Theme Options -> General Options” and feel free to tweak it to your needs:
