Hi, I think I am doing something wrong… I am using a page for setting up the home page (vs a post). Then, I am trying to get rid of the comments, but I am not sure how to proceed. Actually, I’d like comments off across the site as it is going to be a website but with no blog or comments capabilities. I am using the child theme. Thanks!

Hi Tarzancoe,

there are 2 default options for comments in the WordPress. First you can find under “Settings -> Discussion”. This one is general option. Please make sure that checkbox “Allow people to post comments on new articles” is unchecked.

The second option is within each individual page / post. It’s called “Discussion”. You should see it under main edit area inside editing a page / post. If you can’t see it click in the right top corner on button “Screen Options” and make sure that checkbox “Discussion” is checked.

I did both of those things … and the comment box is still at the bottom of the page.
I would like to remove comments from pages but keep on blog posts
any advice?

Hey,

You have to do this manually for every page. Or by bulk editing the pages. Make sure that the “discussion” checkbox under “Screen Options” area in the right top corner is checked so that you see the discussion box.

Now, scroll down the page to find the discussion box:

Make sure both the checkboxes are un-checked. Now make sure to save the changes. Refresh your front-end and voila. The comment box is gone.
