I am with 1&1 and every time you release an update to the theme I’m stuck as to how to go through the documented procedure. This is in part to my lack on experience with FTP editing but also it seems it could also be 1&1 isn’t great linking to WP either.

I see mto have lost my visual editor with the new WP update which his installed automatically but as I need to mess about with the FTP and can’t for the Minicorp update I’m a bit stuck…

Unfortunately we cannot recommend 1 hosting. There are many out there and some are local for the given country you are in. Some are global like WPEngine, Hostgator, DreamHost, Bluehost…

Maybe try MediaTemple.

Regarding the theme update. You don’t have to use the FTP but you could also use the back-end of WordPress and remove and add the new theme trough the standard theme upload.
