I’m using Qtranslate to set up a multi-language site.

Unfortunately, the language selector widget can be placed only in the sidebar, but I decide to not have any sidebar in my site.

How can I place the “language selector button” in the top of my homepage or inside the menù?

Many thanks for the support

What I would do is the following:

1. Use a child theme to register a new “sidebar” area. Basically add a new place where widgets can be displayed. E.g.:

2. Change the template file “header.php” and display the new widgetized area wherever you need it. Read more how the sidebars work and how to call them in here https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/functionality/sidebars/#registering-a-sidebar

3. Under “Appearance > Widgets” add the widget to this area.

4. If necessary add some custom CSS styles to fine-tune the look of the widget.

If this is too much coding for you, we can offer our paid services and implement it for you. Drop us a line via this form https://ishyoboy.com/services/theme-customization/ to discuss this further.

I forgot. The theme can display the language switcher in the Main Navigation. Check their FAQ: https://qtranslatexteam.wordpress.com/faq/#LanguageSwitchingMethods

Add menu item “Language Switcher” to an appropriate menu on your site. It has a few customizable options as described in the embedded help text at menu configuration page or in other FAQ topics.

These are the customisable options: https://qtranslatexteam.wordpress.com/faq/#LanguageSwitcherMenuConfig
