is it possible to limit the length of showing portfolio items, e.g. max 8 items.
Furthermore it would be great if the items arrange via date, for example showing always the 8 newest items (the rest is hidden).

yes of course there is an option for that. To limit portfolio item count please use “per_page=”” attribute for portfolio shortcode. All the portfolio items are ordered by date (the newest ones first), but you can even change it with “order” attribute (DESC / ASC)

[portfolio navigation="yes" pagination="yes" per_page="8" order="DESC"]

thanks for the quick reply. Of course, you are totally right. with per page i can limit to 4. Can i hide the navigation too (like, pagination=”no”)? Dont want people to see, that there are more pages with portfolio items.

Sure you can ;) Please check the documentation as all available attributes are described in there. Look for “Portfolio Shortcode”.

Also an easy way to set it, is to use the shortcodes menu available in the WordPress editor and add the “Advanced” Portfolio. It will contain all available attributes and you can set them as it fits best.
