We re-saved the permalinks settings and cleared the cache of the caching plugin that is being used and now everything seems to be working.

The rewrite rules have been changed. Moreover with combination with caching plugin… you might have been trying to access cached files on non-existing theme.

It is good to re-save permalinks whenever you change themes and also clear the cache on every theme or plugin change/update.
