I really like how portfolio widget looks, but I dont want it leading to full pages.
I mean can I make simple cool-looking gallery out of it?

So when you direct your mouse on some portfolio’s element, it will just zoom in the picture and that’s it, not directing to the full page. So people can’t click it and get into another page. I hope you understand me. Thank you for your attention.

Sorry, but this functionality is not available for the portfolio by default. You could however add it yourself by adding changes into a child theme. This however involves good knowledge of WordPress, PHP, HTML and JavaScript.

You can override the portfolio shortcode template and change the PHP code to output the necessary html content and then add JavaScript to trigger it on mouseclick and etc..

If you are interested in overriding the portfolio PHP template then have a look at this topic which is very similar, it just handles ish_recent_posts instead of ish_portfolio:
