On my desktop iMac, when I add too many menu items to the navigation (so that it becomes wider than the space between the logo and the search/cart icons, the navigation automatically switches to responsive and shows the responsive menu icon (3 waves).

I’ve tried reducing the size of the logo to allow for more space, but the menu keeps switching to responsive.

In the theme settings, under ‘header options’ there’s an option called ‘Header navigation responsive layout’ which is set to 1060. I’ve tried adjusting this but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

In ‘General options’ the ‘Responsive layout’ option is set to ‘responsive’.

By the way, I’m using the Eshop template.

to change your menu to normal menu make sure to set it in “Appearance -> Theme Options -> Header Options -> Main Navigation Position” and choose “center”.

If you still have a hamburger menu then you either have too long items in the main menu so they cannot fit next to the logo or your screen size is smaller than the setting in:

“Appearance -> Theme Options -> Header Options -> Header navigation responsive layout”

In this case you have 3 possibilities:
1. Reduce first level menu items
2. Change value “Header navigation responsive layout”
3. Set “Theme Options -> General Options -> Page Width” to “Full Width” or to your custom width, where the menu is displayed normal

If you have still problem with your menu, please provide us some link where we can see the result.

Cheers

I have adjusted the menu so that it’s smaller, so on desktop it’s fine. However, I want the full menu to appear on tablets in landscape mode, but it’s showing the responsive menu instead.

I have the settings as you’ve suggested (menu is centered, etc) but it doesn’t make any difference.

I’ve tried changing the value in ‘Header navigation responsive layout’ and it doesn’t appear to do anything – can you fully explain how this field works? What I’d like it to do is show the full menu on desktop, laptop and tablet landscape, the show the responsive menu on anything smaller.

You can see the theme here – https://tonicboxdev.co.uk/evolution/boarding/ – try it on a desktop then on an iPad or other tablet (I have an iPad) in landscape.

The setting I currently have for ‘Header navigation responsive layout’ is 767, as I want the responsive menu to kick in when the screen size is 767 or smaller, which is my understanding of how that setting works.

Thanks

there is probably a problem with WordPress tagline “Reptile & pet shop Kiddlington, Oxfordshire”.
This tagline is displayed on your page, although it was hidden by this css code:

Free space for displaying regular menu depends also on this element.
You can try adjust your css:

Or try completely remove your tagline if it helps.
Please let us know. Thanks

Cheers

The responsive menu is still appearing on desktop, laptop and iPad landscape. I’ve removed the tagline completely from the header.php.

Please can you confirm how the ‘Header navigation responsive layout’ is supposed to work, as I’ve changed the settings in there and it doesn’t have any effect.

Thanks

Lee

First you need to go to “Theme Options” -> “Header Options” and change the menu position from “right” to “center”.

Then the menu should be displayed as regular menu. However if there are too many items in it, it will automatically be converted to responsive one.

Did this work?

Cheers
