I made the background black so you can see the distinct padding – how can I remove the top padding and control the padding around the three images?

1. For removing top padding you can set this row as section.
“Row settings” -> “Make row as section” -> “Yes”

And width of row set to full-width.
“Row settings” -> “Section Type” -> “Full-width”

2. For control padding around the three images you can use element “Image gallery” inside one column.

In other case, you can try to remove this padding also with custom css ;)
