Revolution Slider on unboxed layout

I have a revolution slider on the home page.
It is set to full width, which is how I want it – stretching across the whole page. But viewing on different devices, the sides of the slides get cut off, so you cannot see the full slide. Help?

Hey,

You will have to change either the settings of your slider from 1290×470 to a different height (1290×360) as currently the images’ height is not enough. The ratio between the image width/height is not the same as the sliders.

Your images are 1290×360 so the slider tries to enlarge the height from 360 to 470 and this makes the width also bigger than 1290. This is the reason why your image is not visible on smaller devices.

Either change the slider’s settings or images’ heights ;)

I changed the slider height to 360 (to match the height of the images), but this crops 2 of the images (slides 1 & 4) vertically in a wide browser. All 5 slide images are exactly 1290 x 360. Is there a perfect size to build the slides at and to set the slider to? I’m happy to re-design to make this work.

Hey,

In this case you’ll have to make your images super big :) So that they are never scaled-up to a bigger height than they are by default. This means that You should do them at least 1920 pixels in width (if you expect your visitors to have wider screens then even bigger). This however means that on less wide screens your image will be scaled-down. And the texts inside the image will be less readable.

You might also want to check if the revolution slider provides a “variable height” option so that the image is never cut.

Have you tried setting the “Unlimited Height” option of the slider to “On”? Did it do the trick?

I did not see Unlimited Height as an option in the Rev. Slider.
Only Slider Max Height. So I set that to 360px as you suggested.

My “hack” was to pull guides into the “break point” of the slide images.
I then reduced all text / image to fit within those guides, so nothing would get cut off, and that seems to work.
