I have just noticed that the shortcode icon is missing from my visual editor. I have read that you suggest updating the theme but I have made too many modifications to be able to do that, is there another way to get this feature back? I am on version 1.8 of minicorp.

Unfortunately this is the only way :( WordPress 3.9 came with a bunch of changes and one of them was a complete rework of how Visual Editor (TinyMCE) loads plugins like ours. So you have the following options:

1. Revert back to the highest version of WordPress 3.8 (3.8.2 if I am not mistaken)
2. Update the Minicorp to the latest version
3. Try to manually extract all the changes regarding the Shortcodes plugin from Minicorp 1.9 to 1.8

Custom changes are exactly what Child themes are created for. To separate your changes from the main theme files so you could install future theme updates without loosing your modifications. If you know which files you have changed you might want to give the Child Themes a try!

Sorry for the bad news :(
Please let us know which option you are going to chose.

P.S. For any future theme you are going to work with, we strongly recommend using a child theme for all code modifications.

As far as I remember they would be:

– minicorp\assets\framework\wp\shortcodes\shortcodes.php
– minicorp\assets\framework\libs\css\tinymce.css
– minicorp\assets\framework\libs\css\tinymce_4.css
– minicorp\assets\framework\libs\js\shortcodes.js
– minicorp\assets\framework\libs\js\shortcodes_4.js

Not sure if those are all necessary but you will know if something’s missing. Anyway we strongly suggest moving your changes to a child theme rather than sticking to v1.8 of Minicorp.

A WordPress update might come that will require even more changes and you will be stuck with a non-functional theme. Better do the things the right way now. You will see it will pay back in the future. This is our small advice ;)
