I have two problems. Site is still hosted local, goal is to launch by Monday.

1. In Customize I enter a Site Title and tagline but only the tagline shows up.

2. I’m using the latest post page as my homepage and I’d like to remove the text “11 posts here”.

The problem might be that you are using a logo. If you use a logo, the site title is not showing. If no logo is used, then the site title is displayed instead.
