Therefor Google has guidelines which can be found here: https://www.feedthebot.com
When you test “speed” the loading time of your website is measured, in my case the score is 73/100 and that is not okay.

Main reason is
a. too many css files and
b. too many scripts.

My question: can these files be combined to one file?

The page performance is something that should be controlled outside of the theme. We have followed the best-practices while creating the theme to ensure there is the best basis for further performance optimization.

Unfortunately having a page builder instead of static templates and many theme options comes at a price of more resources loaded. Even with that we, tried to minimize the loading of unnecessary JavaScripts and Styles when they are not needed.

To minimize the amount of CSS files you can use a caching or minification plugin that not only minimizes the content but also combines several CSS files into one single minified cached file.

More-over the more plugins you use the more files will be loaded as each plugin loads its own css and its own js, maybe fonts, icons etc..

In your case we can see that revolution slider loads its own CSS, javascripts and they are not minified. Try playing around with the optimization to get best results. Maybe avoid using plugins that are loading too many resources and use something simpler instead.

In any case the speed is just a little part of the criteria that decides the position within google. The content itself, backlinks, freshness of content, rich snippets, social media link, all are more important. The speed is mainly important for the final user experience but we agree that it is counted within the final score.
