Trying to add " read more" tab but not truncating article

I have the Zimney theme and I am not sure if I am building pages correctly.
I am building the Home Page and am inserting all the code using the buttons provided.
I added some articles to my home page and am trying to use the “read more” tab which places the appropriate line in the code, but when I publish it, it’s not truncating the article or adding the more tab.
Please advise.

First of all thanks for choosing one of our templates. We hope the work with Zimney WP will be very easy and straight-froward.

Could you please provide a link to the site so we could see if you’re using a regular Page or the Blog Overview (Archive) so we could better guide you on how to make the “Read more” functionality you’re trying to get?

Currently the articles are set to use the_excerpt() which by default ignores the read more tag. But with a little change we’ll help you activate it.

Well, you seem to be adding the article manually. We guess a better way would be to open “Posts” and to add the whole article in there. To set its featured image, the content, title etc..

Once done, you could use the [recent_posts] shortcode to display the latest article on the homepage. https://themes.ishyoboy.com/zimney/shortcodes/recent-posts/

In this way every time you add a new article it will be automatically displayed on the homepage without having to manually add the information in there.

Apart from that you seem to be doing it right ;) The shortcode buttons are all the pre-defined content chunks you can be assembling on every page. They are all very powerful as they have many attributes that can be used for fine tuning. We recommend taking 10-15 minutes and browsing through all elements so you could have a clear picture of what could be used inside the content of every page or article:

I guess you were looking for a button shortcode and so:

[button url="#" size="small" color="color1"]Read More[/button]

The Blog overview is a page which displays a list of all your latest “Articles”.. An example: https://themes.ishyoboy.com/zimney/blog/

All these are not “Pages” but “Posts” an the Blog overview page is automatically displaying them all, their Featured Image and excerpt (First circa 50 words from the article) as well as an automatic “read more” button to the full article.
