Even logging into the dashboard was really slow. The whole back-end is extremely slow. We guess this is not from the theme or visual composer.

Please try to:
1. Optimize your Database to delete unnecessary data – https://wordpress.org/plugins/rvg-optimize-database/
2. Switch to a default WordPress theme to see if the problem comes from the theme.
3. Disable all the plugins and see how it affects the speed
4. Enable all plugins one by one to see which one causes the slowness.
5. You might want to make a fresh install to ensure all works smootly
