With the recent update, however, the boldial assets plug-in stopped working and whenever I activated the boldial-child theme wordpress loads a blank white screen.

After uninstalling everything associated with the them, turning off all plug-ins, and trying a dozen or so re-installs of boldial, I thought it was time to contact support. Since the update, I haven’t been able to load the boldial.zip file through the wordpress install interface. The boldial-child.zip will install, but whenever I go to install the boldial.zip or the boldial assets plugin, I receive the following error:

The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Invalid archive structure

I read in other posts, that it may work if you just manually upload the directory unzipped in “wp-content\themes” folder via ftp. So I tried that. This way worked once and I was able to activate the theme, but as soon as I went to install the boldial assets plug-in I would get the ‘invalid archive’ error again. Now, however, once I get the theme uploaded, I can’t even get the the theme to activate.

I’m in no way a WP pro, but I’ve been using it for years, and never had a problem.

Please if there’s any advice on how to get to solve this, please help.

Issue may have been resolved.
I think there was a connection issue on my end when I would go to upload the theme directory, and so certain things weren’t transferring onto my hosting. So, that was the solution to getting the theme ready to activate. As for the “boldial assets,” I just browsed to where the .zip file was located extracted its contents onto my desktop and then mainly uploaded that directory into my plug-ins folder for Boldial. It seems to have done the trick.

Hopefully this can be helpful for any other person having similar problems.

Wow, you seem to have had a tough Saturday fighting with such error. Sorry for not being here to provide instant help but on weekends we sometimes take a little time away from computers.

This is very strange problem and we guess it is tightly connected with your server and local configuration as you are the first user experiencing the mentioned problem.

This message usually means that the Plugin can not be extracted from the zip archive. It usually happens when you don’t have enough hard drive space left of my Web Server, which means that there is no way of extracting the contents of the zip file. Or it can also be a read/write problem.

In such cases a manual install might help. It sometimes happens that not all files are uploaded even if you use FTP so you have to double-check no file is missing!

Well, in any case we hope this was the only issue you faced and from now on everything will run smoothly.

I’m not sure it was anything to do with Boldial. I was able to get everything loaded eventually, but the site became really sluggish and buggy.
All in all, I think the issue was with my WP install.
Not sure what caused it, but I just did a fresh install and everything seemed to work fine.
