background opacity

Hi there.
If you look at the first page of this site I’m working on https://67.227.201.150/~stacyharshmancol/ You’ll see that the top text area has a dark grey background color. I’m wondering if I can make that whole area (everything that’s dark grey) completely transparent so you can see the black and white background image underlying the whole page.

Please note this is a custom text block and I’ve hidden the title tagline area that is usually there.
