Remove lower case letter from top of individual posts?

On individual post pages as well as on the home page, a lower case letter shows up superimposed over the featured image (i.e., if the post title starts with the word “The”, a lower case letter “t” will be superimposed). I followed the instructions in this post on how to remove the letter:

This works on the homepage – now none of the images have the lower case letter on them. But when I click into an individual post, the letter still shows up in the area where the featured image in the post goes. Is there a way to remove this in individual posts as well?
