Boldial Colored Map marker

On the google map is it possible for the marker to have reflect the background color chosen for each location before the maker is clicked on. E.G if the background for the location is blue the marker would be appear blue as default, another location would be yellow so would have a yellow marker. So on initial loading of the map (before any markers are clicked on) yellow and blue markers would be visible rather than the default #f74926 (red).
In can see where this is controlled in boldial/assets/frontend/js/main.js but cannot get it to work.
