Hiding product-category pages and using regular pages instead

I’ve tried the woo commerce support with no reply

I’m setting up a page that displays all the products from a category…

Using the short code [product_category category=”appliances”]

So it displays all the products from the appliances category

For example the page is https://www.mywebsite.co.uk/appliances

But when I do that it displays exactly the same stuff on the category page

Eg.. https://Www.mywebsite.co.uk/product-category/appliances

So it’s duplicating everything from the page I’m setting up?

Is there any way to stop this ? Or to hide the /product-category/appliances page?
