Responsive Image Gallery

Am I able to set up a responsive image gallery using categories in the Minicorp theme or will I have to get an additional plugin? I have a certain amount of content to show with images and would like to filter them via seven different categories. I see this is a thing available with premium plugins but if its a feature I could use in the Minicorp theme that would be great!
