unboxed (Full-width) Images

The same way i can add a full width colour content break to the site, i would like to use images to break the page that fill the full width of the page. Can this be done and still allow the images added to be responsive?

So far i have only managed to add the image by using a content break and replacing the pattern url with the image url, but its not reponsive.
