Using child theme over parent

    Hi,

    I was advised by my web host that using the Child theme over the Parent theme was best so when upgraded it doesn’t change the core theme…how does using the Child theme differ from the Parent themes tools and options wise? Will those things still be the available if I use the Child theme?
